My version of "Daily Photos" will be ever-so-typical of myself: 'A Different Little Twist'!!

I'm using this gallery as an impetus: one of my present goals is to add several photos per day into this website.
As I'm doing so, I will choose one of the photos to include in this 365 day project!
(If I experience a difficult time choosing which image to use as my 'Daily Photo', I'll add the other choice(s) into my Contender gallery)

Occasionally, there will be days when the photo was actually taken on that particular day!
This will probably be governed by available time and my creative spirit!

The photos within this gallery are available to order as prints and other merchandise; click on the 'buy' icons.

I will appreciate any comments and/or critiques; click on the 'add comments' on the bottom left, and please include your name! You can also vote on the photos, if you choose; drag your pointer onto the enlarged image on the right; a box will appear on the top right which allows the voting process. Just click either yea-or-nay!

Thank you for visiting this Gallery, and I hope you enjoy the photos presented here!

Practicing with lighting again.
These blown glass paperweights provide endless photo ops. However, I'm finding them to
be difficult and challenging (they just won't sit still!...aahhh, nevermind!); primarily because of the reflections.
I'm going to keep at it, though!

Practiced again today with lighting and the tripod.
But the subject matter for today was another paperweight. (Got away from the Bling, John!!)
This is straight out of the camera. Too tired to do anything else with it yet!
Good night.

"Take Two"

Decided to try yesterday's idea again, using different lighting and a tripod.
I stepped into the digital world of photography using a Konica Minolta Dimage Z5. Great little camera to begin the learning process. It actually has two different macro settings, which still serves me well whenever I want to try something in Macro. Certainly now know that I need to get a macro lens for my Nikon.
This jewelry exercise has prompted an overdue equipment aquirement!
Included two DP's today; comments/critique appreciated.

#2 of "Take Two"
LadyKatesPhotography > February 23

Combining two practice sessions:
1) my jewelry box and lighting
2) PS effects

Other possibilities for the DP in here

Yes......I'm a day late (and sometimes a dollar short!) Hopefully, I'll catch up tonight.
As for this one, who knows?

Once again, the fabulous Goldie Stadler makes the Dailies!!

This morning I received an e-mail requesting a photo of Goldie, from this event, for possible inclusion in an article which will be in the local newspaper; honoring Goldie and her years of service to our Police Department!!

For many years, Goldie has been a member of the Atascadero VIPS (Volunteers in Police Service). She was recently honored for her "dedication to the community above and beyond any expectation from a VIPS member. Goldie exemplifies the type of attitude, generosity and perseverance that typifies a member of the Atascadero Police Department."

As a police department volunteer, Goldie performs a variety of duties. Her favorites are going out on patrol and being a clown each year for K-9 in the Park, an event featuring and fundraising for the local police dog.

I took this photo of Goldie in June 2006 shortly before her 85th birthday, as her family was asking me to photograph their 'Matriarch'-in-action!

You go, girl !! Congratulations! Sincerely, I consider you to be a fun and frisky friend as well as an incredible mentor!

LadyKatesPhotography > February 20 **Shovel Dancing** - - it's the latest!

Today was another long day at 'The Part-time Job', which is a house rennovation in Shell Beach, California. Throughout most of the day, there was an Electrician, the Contractor's Handyman, the Painter and myself. My job, for a good portion of the day, was to shovel dirt into a wheelbarrow as I was leveling a small backyard area.
The occasional rain had stopped ; the sun had been shining again, intermixed with big, gorgeous clouds. The other three left for the day; leaving me to enjoy the later afternoon alone. Combining the golden, warmth of the day and the job I was working on, the afternoon was in need of some really good music!
Opening all the doors of the car, I turned up the volume and that beautiful voice began to sing; just to me! My music of choice was that of one of my favorite male singers: Raul Malo. I tuned out the rest of the world! I danced a waltz and a two-step (don't need a partner for those !) under the carport and on the front lawn, while gazing upon the scene in this photo. I stopped dancing long enough to get my camera out of the car and was hoping to get a shot to use as a DP.
All in all, I was really quite happy!
Keep in mind, I'm wearing grubbies, work boots and gloves at the time! I played with the camera while listening and dancing to the wonderful music. I was needing (responsibly so !) to finish up the chore; I grabbed my shovel and went back to the dirt. The rythyms were definitely helping with the work until I heard Raul start singing "Cold, Cold Heart", and also "Every Little Thing". Now, imagine as I begin to 'Sway' and dance around through the dirt....with my shovel !! (I can't whistle!)
YES........it was a great afternoon!

One of the areas on his website is called "The Forum":
http://raulmalo.com/forums/ubbthreads.php
People join as members ; very similar to becoming a member of a SmugMug community (I'm identified as TheQueen !). I will be posting a message in The Forum so to refer those members to this DP and the story of how I chose to enjoy my afternoon, and to tell them of the Daily Photo Community. Hopefully, The Forum members will come spend some time in this community and enjoy the many beautiful photos. And, also hopefully, many of you that read this, will spend some time enjoying the links I've included regarding Raul, his music and The Forum. Better yet, get yourself several of his CD's; don't limit yourself to the five songs incuded in his MySpace player!!
