My version of "Daily Photos" will be ever-so-typical of myself: 'A Different Little Twist'!!

I'm using this gallery as an impetus: one of my present goals is to add several photos per day into this website.
As I'm doing so, I will choose one of the photos to include in this 365 day project!
(If I experience a difficult time choosing which image to use as my 'Daily Photo', I'll add the other choice(s) into my Contender gallery)

Occasionally, there will be days when the photo was actually taken on that particular day!
This will probably be governed by available time and my creative spirit!

The photos within this gallery are available to order as prints and other merchandise; click on the 'buy' icons.

I will appreciate any comments and/or critiques; click on the 'add comments' on the bottom left, and please include your name! You can also vote on the photos, if you choose; drag your pointer onto the enlarged image on the right; a box will appear on the top right which allows the voting process. Just click either yea-or-nay!

Thank you for visiting this Gallery, and I hope you enjoy the photos presented here!

'Spanglerhenge' Daylight Ceremony

It's been a busy week!! (Didn't get to upload the DP for yesterday until early this morning!)
I'm still uploading photos into the Mojave Desert gallery!

We decided my message must have been: "You touch them, you will die!"
(it was unintentional, but the camera sure caught it!!)

We found this particular area to have such a wonderful, powerful, peaceful energy about it, that we decided to create a tribute to honor such!! We played here for the most of Sunday; went back again for sunset that night; back again for sunrise the next morning! We experienced this area last year as well, and will be visiting there again!

My friend here wanted me to post this one like this:self-portrait!

The Desert Queen

One of the reasons for our desert trips is to Hunt For Treasures! Most specifically: photo ops and rocks!!
Some of these 'hunted for' rocks are brought home, and there are those specifically used just for 'Desert Art'!

Some of what we bring home are actually pretty good sized boulders! For those, it takes both of us with all our
efforts combined, to get them into the trailer! We're very selective when we're hunting; it isn't just any old rock
that gets put in the trailer to be brought back to adorn our landscapes!!
Oh No! They have to be very special to end up coming home with us!

What this really boils down to is the fact that we are just so damn easily entertained!!

P.S. LauraJohnson: I have been telling my rock-hunting buddy about SmugMug; she has been lurking in the Daily Photos. During our laughter, as we stood back to admire the new Desert Queen here, I mentioned you and how much you'd just love the sparklies! Of course, the Tiara sparkled!! But the gold strands in the boa were really pretty as they glistened in the sun, especially as they wiggled in the breeze!

Yes....I missed uploading a DP for yesterday! By the time we finished that 24 hrs. of frivilous fun in the desert area near Ridgecrest (California), I was too tired to tend to my DP; I'm admitting it!!
Had another outstanding day today; ending our trip by arriving in our own little hometown at sunset!
This is what we were watching while driving the last couple of miles down the highway! SPECTACULAR!! What a "welcome home"! Took the first available offramp in order to catch this shot!! (Tough choice, though! This was right after a double rainbow which we also pulled over for!!)

We did spend some discussion as to how difficult it was going to be to choose a DP for yesterday, and today!! Over the next several days, I will be using shots from this trip as DP's, as I add photos to the gallery.

We're having a fabulous time on our Great Rock Hunting Expedition out here in the Hwy. 395 area of the Mojave Desert!
We were going to post an indicative photo thereof, as the DP for today, however, "Florence" here derailed that idea!!
We have created a new gallery for this trip and have uploaded several photos so far (including a close-up of "Florence"!!!) Rock Hunting in Mojave
We added more of the normal rock hunting expedition type photo in:my Contender gallery

This photo was during last year's trip on Easter weekend. It's an SP, with friend included! I set the mini tripod on the hood of the car!

My Fabulous Friend, Myki, and I go on an annual (we'd rather it was bi-annual!) adventure; Our "Great Rock Hunting Expedition"!! We spend three wonderful days away together, wandering around out in the desert!
Yes! We have several purposes/reasons for our wanderings:
(listed, however not necessarily in any particular order!!)
*) Spending time alone together
*) Being totally carefree, peaceful, adventuresome, spontaneous and silly
*) Getting ourselves out in the middle of Podunk Nowhere......then we can stand, slowly turning 360 degrees, not seeing or hearing another human being; experiencing the view, which is usually for miles, and miles, and miles...........soaking in the sunshine, the breeze (well, sometimes it's kinda gale-force wind!) and all the spectacular beauty which desert areas offer!
*) End up in places we've never been before (sometimes go back to some favorite spots!)
*) Hunt for treasures! Most specifically, rocks!! Some of what we bring home are actually pretty good sized boulders! For those, it takes both of us with all our effort combined! We're very selective when we're hunting; it isn't just any old rock that gets to come home with us and adorn our landscapes!! Oh No! They have to be very special to end up in the trailer!

Yes! We haul a trailer! We bring rockhounding books, maps and directions (some of which are extremely funny and have caused us some side-splitting laughter while trying to follow them! ----Who wrote those?!?! ) We also take a dolly and a ramp;, rock picks, shovel, crowbar, wagon, miner's lights for our hats, backpacks, gloves, gardener's claw.........and last but certanily not least, the icechest filled with snacks and beverages.......and our cameras!!!!

Inyokern is within the Northwest portion of the Mojave Desert. Death Valley is East, and South a bit, from Inyokern.
FYI: Inyokern is a community with a population of---the internet site states @ 900. Huummm, don't know where they're all living; obvious to us that this populas is quite spread out!!

WE'RE HEADING OUT TOMORROW MORNING!!! Hooorahhh!!
If the hotel has internet, we'll post DP's showing you some highlights of our adventure!! If not, I'll catch up after we get home!

Always remember: "NEVER go rockhunting without your Tiara!!"

Photo time today was spent adding to my bench gallery: Benches
The first time I used my first digital camera, I spent a couple of hours in this park. I would sit for a while and read through the manual, then go try it. I'd sit again, reading some other pages, then go try that! This was May'05.
