My version of "Daily Photos" will be ever-so-typical of myself: 'A Different Little Twist'!!

I'm using this gallery as an impetus: one of my present goals is to add several photos per day into this website.
As I'm doing so, I will choose one of the photos to include in this 365 day project!
(If I experience a difficult time choosing which image to use as my 'Daily Photo', I'll add the other choice(s) into my Contender gallery)

Occasionally, there will be days when the photo was actually taken on that particular day!
This will probably be governed by available time and my creative spirit!

The photos within this gallery are available to order as prints and other merchandise; click on the 'buy' icons.

I will appreciate any comments and/or critiques; click on the 'add comments' on the bottom left, and please include your name! You can also vote on the photos, if you choose; drag your pointer onto the enlarged image on the right; a box will appear on the top right which allows the voting process. Just click either yea-or-nay!

Thank you for visiting this Gallery, and I hope you enjoy the photos presented here!

Hey Hillary!! I promised you that I would post a DP of a photo from one of our annual trips!! Here ya go!!

MyKey and I, as well as 14 other 'Wonderful Women', will be spending next week camping together in the Sierras!! I will be pulling out of town this Sunday; I'm VERY much looking forward to our adventure!

This photo is of one of our favorite places to revisit during our annual time-away: Florence Lake. I took this shot in 2005 when my daughter Kamryn, MyKey and I went on this 'day excursion'. We left our campsite in the morning, with a fabulous picnic, heading for F.L. where we rented one of these 'mini-yachts', then spent the day exploring! The picnic was enjoyed with the sights and sounds of a beautiful waterfall, with its turquoise waters.

We have already reserved one of these same beautiful vessels for another 'day trip' this next week! As you've probably figured out, I can hardly wait!!

Johnloguk: FYI--the peak in the distance is Ward Mt., 10,862 ft.

I won't be able to post another DP before we head out:(

Blessings to each of you in this wonderful Daily community. Honestly, I will miss my interraction here, and will look forward to posting a favorite shot on the day or two after our return! (July 23)

One of my highlights for the last eight years is a camping trip with a group of Lady friends!
And next week is the beginning of our week-long adventure in the mountains! Yay!!!!
We have three major rules: "NO MEN, NO KIDS, NO WHINING!!!"
The slogan for this year: "Freeeeee, at last!!"
Last year's sogan: "...Because we can!!"

We often refer to this trip as a week long therapy session!! We laugh a lot!!!!
Laughter IS some of the best medicine!!

A couple of months ago, we lost a member of our 'Tribe' (as some Daily members will remember from a couple of my DP's..... here.......and here) due to cancer :(
While experiencing our upcoming time together, we all will be tremendously missing
our dear Sue; aka "Pedicure Patti":(

Two years ago, she arrived at the campground wearing this particular shirt!!
This year, we will be flying this shirt as a memorial flag....in the center of the campsite!!

BTW: I'm the second one in from the left!! I love to water-ski!!
BTW#2: MyKey is also a member of our Tribe!!

It's still 4th of July weekend!!

My husband and I enjoyed a very peaceful and quiet 4th by staying home! I was watching the dusk light as it played across the flags which our neighbors had put on their front fence. (Thanks, chuck and Lisa!)
This is Coconut, one of their three Great Pyranees!! I was coaxing her into standing right by the bunting. She is so gorgeous--look at those eyes!! She's also a real sweetie!

I am so grateful that we're able to celebrate the Independence of our great country! Hopefully our independence causes all Americans some happiness!

I'm getting closer to that 'hard-to-manage Hummer shot!!! This lil' cutie and I dined together this evening out on the deck!!
I was not in 'ready position, with camera in hand'; my plan didn't include a hummingbird practice session tonight. But I was easily derailed when she kept coming back to the feeder, and didn't seem to be bothered by movement on my part. She returned very soon after I had come back out with the camera.
This particular feeder is usually being watched over by a very territorial male, who does not like being photographed! However, his little girlfriend here was posing! I just need to figure out how to get focused shots!? I am curious as to where he was, and why she was being allowed so much time at the feeder?
Anyone care to offer suggestions re: focus issues, I'd be very appreciative!
BTW: This is a fairly tight crop, with slight increase in constrast after B&W conversion.

Hey...KurtPreston!! Tonight, I didn't even catch a glimpse of that 'rare, neon, all electric hummer'!

I started a new gallery for Hummingbirds

It's amazing re: Johnloguk's twin, who sits across from me at the Jury table!! Today, I gave him a piece of paper with my website address, and instructions as to getting to the Daily Photos, and told him of my post from last night!

Re: the Jacaranda Trees...........actually, NONE of these photos do these trees adequate justice! It's much prettier even than my shots portray!! To give an idea of the size of this beauty, that's a two story apt. behind it, and (big!)Ucalyptus Trees in the BG, to the right!
I added two new shots from today into the gallery that I created yesterday (the last two images in the gallery...right now!) I went back to one of the Jacaranda Trees that I found yesterday. Wanted the sunlight shining on it, instead of from behind, so I took the shots this morning on my way to Jury Duty!

Another very long, drawn-out day as a Juror! At the 3:30 ten minute break, several of us had to go outside to refresh, in order to try to wake ourselves up!
I'm tired now! Good night!
LadyKatesPhotography > July 1

I have just spent the last two days, from 9-5, serving on Jury Duty! For the most part, I was in a chair, sitting still, in windowless rooms, attempting to listen attentively and NOT nod off! We are released for lunch, and I've quickly made my way outside, choosing to walk to a resturant. The location is in downtown San Luis Obispo (California).

There is an additional element of beauty in S.L.O. at this time of year: the incredibly gorgeous, periwinkle colored, fragrant, blossoming Jacaranda trees! I took my camera today, in hopes of being able to get some shots of a few of these beauties, which are sprinkled all around the city!
As soon as they dismissed us this afternoon, I headed straight for the car, grabbed the camera, and found the first photogenic Jacarandas, at the Mission. I dilly-dallied my way to the freeway, looking for other Jacarandas, and ended up at a little town park.
This was a beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy the setting sun, the stunning colors and perfect weather!
A GREAT way to unwind after being cooped up in a Jury box!!

I created a new gallery to house some of these Jacaranda tree images, and a few other pretties which caught my attention this afternoon: How to unwind after Jury Duty!

!!Hey...Johnloguk!! I found out yesterday that you have a twin in this area!! He is a fellow juror! I even introduced myself to him during a break, explaining SmugMug and the Daily community, and that he has a twin in Lincoln, England!

I truly wish I could get a shot of him to show y'all ! After the SP's which John has shared with us, I am certain everyone would agree!
It's pretty uncanny!!

Please send prayers and positive this way!! I have to do the jury thing again tomorrow, then we get 4 days off!
Back again on Monday, through Wed., and maybe Thurs.! :( :(

Today is my sister's birthday!!
I found these beauties in her yard a while ago!
More gorgeous evidence of her incredible 'green thumb'!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GAYSIE MAE!!

I've included this image in: My Sister's Garden.

(The purple is Lobelia; flowers are @ 1/2". The red is Begonia(?); flowers are @ 1 1/2".)

My attempts at getting a good shot of a Hummingbird haven't proved sharp enough....yet!
I've also found that I begin to run out of patience waiting for them to come back!!
So, I decided a little PS practice would be fun!

I included another shot, and PS practice, in my Contender Gallery
LadyKatesPhotography > June 24

It's been a very busy week; I haven't posted a DP for a couple of days, nor have I been able to look through any of your wonderful photos, or share comments with y'all. Soon!!
This photo came from a shoot I did on June 14. Previously, I have posted DP's on April 3 and May 23 which were practice runs for this one....then, I used "Fannie Flamingo" as my model!! I didn't figure I'd have as long to work with Colby! However, he came through with flying 'bandanas'!!

I wanted to do this after dark, which was getting late for a three yr. old, but he revived when
our daughter told him "Come on, Honey....we're going to go play dress-up with Gramma!!"

On the way to the location, we centered the entire conversation towards him, to keep him awake, telling him we were taking him to a 'cowboy place'. We had brought his guitar, and told him he was going to get to be a country western singer! He was really liking this idea!!

While I was setting up, Samantha was helping him get into his 'cowboy' clothes. We hadn't thought to try on the boots before.....they didn't fit!! I took some shots with him barefoot, but when his feet started getting cold we had to put the socks back on!

The resturant was closed, and it's quite far from anything, so we told him he could sing his heart out!! Sing as loud as you want to Colby! Our mistake was that we had not taken another person with a video camera! It was one of the funniest things I seen in a long time! He put on quite a show! He was making up words to a song (we both really wish we remembered what the words were---it was funnnnny! Half-way through the shoot--rather, 'His Show'--he informed us that he was a country western Ozzy Osborne!!!!

On the way home, while we were still complimenting him on what a great show he did for us, he told us "Well, you're welcome! My pleasure!" Then added, "You know, I am a country western rock-n-roll star!!"
We're considering trying the entire thing again so that we could get it all on video!!!
It would be a YouTube smash!!
And, of course, Roxy loved the whole evening. She had her 'boy' singing to her!
